Canon PIXMA iP8710 Review– The installation is simple and straightforward. Load the six ink cartridges, wait a few minutes for the printer to trigger, and install the software (you can install only the drivers if you do not need the software). We used a USB connection during our tests, but generally have no problems connecting.

Canon printers via Wi-Fi. In fact, if you have a wireless router that supports Wi-Fi protected Access (WPA), you can easily set the printer on a network by pressing the aforementioned Wi-Fi/WPA button on the front. The printer also supports Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud print for wireless printing (bypassing a network), or through Canon’s IOS and Android printing applications.

Considering that Canon promotes the PIXMA iP8720 as a photographic printer, we were pleasantly surprised by its capabilities in the press everyday. At the standard print quality setting (the driver also offers settings for business document, paper saving, photographic printing and envelope), we have reached a print speed of 13.3 pages per minute (ppm) with our test Word document (which contains mostly black text and a small color logo). Canon rates the iP9720 at 14.5 ppm of print in black, and 10.4 in color, so their estimates and our results are close.

In terms of photographic quality, we were very happy with what the iP8720 was able to produce. We printed on Canon Pro lustre photo paper and Canon Plus glossy II photo paper. On both newspapers, the results were excellent, with our only criticism being slightly dark skin tones that were noticeable only when comparing the output with our reference prints.
