Canon PIXMA MG5710 Review– Canon’s Pixma MG5710 is a classic example of an inkjet multifunction device (MFP) designed for home use. It is a squat, smart-looking unit, made of high quality black plastic. It is quite well specified, too: It can print, scan and copy, print automatically on both sides of a sheet of paper (duplex printing), and you can connect and share it on a wireless network. Not bad for an all-in-one printer.

The only mild disappointment is that no fax modem is included, but sensible Canon has included support for more modern cloud-based printing services. The Pixma MG5710 can be set up to print from cloud services such as Google Drive, but keep in mind that it is not as straightforward as it should be – the process is much more involved than it is for products from rival manufacturers like HP.

As a mid-range device, this Pixma gets Canon’s exceptional five-ink print engine, which combines Dye-based black, cyan, magenta and yellow inks with a larger, pigment black tank for better text printing. While it’s a good thing, we’re disappointed that MG5710 is lumbered with a clumsy control system. Instead of pressing input, its menus are navigated with a four-way rocker switch paired with three dedicated buttons under the screen – we have long criticized this setup, which can be inconsistent and confusing.
